Scrapping of Vehicles
For detailed information about the scrappage of vehicles refer to POL 11 in English or Maltese.
Documents required when scrapping a vehicle:
- Application form VEH 013;
- Vehicles registration certificate (log book);
- Vehicles road licence - Licence is charged pro-rata if expired;
- Vehicles registration plates;
- Cancellation of hire purchase (if applicable);
- Destruction Certificate issued by a licensed treatment facility (applicable to M1 and N1 Vehicles only);
- An administration fee of 10.
Documents required when scrapping a vehicle whose owner is benefitting from the Arrears Regularisation Scheme:
- Application form VEH 044;
- Affidavit from a Notary;
- Vehicles registration certificate (logbook);
- Vehicles registration plates;
- If any contraventions were issued since the licences expiry date, then licence needs to be paid up to the last contravention issued;
- A scrappage fee of 125;
- A fee of 20 if the vehicles licence has been expired for more than 8 years;
- A fee of 150 if no destruction certificate is provided;
- An administration fee of 10.
Documents required when scrapping a vehicle whose owner is benefitting from the Scrappage Scheme:
- Application Form VEH 038;
- Application Form VEH 051 if the applicant is also benefitting from the scheme for the purchase of electric or plugin hybrid vehicles;
- Copy of the owners Identify Card.

NOTE: If any of the above documents and /or number plates are missing, declaration form VEH 039 (Maltese or English version) shall be presented aling with an adminisation fee of 8.
